pink and blue

using papers from colorbox and a freebie from one of the crafting magazines, I have made this lovely box in a bag (you can find the template here
again found this on pinterest - I am becoming so addicted to it!

obviously the box is inside so you cant see it, but its the same colour as the flowers which I used a punch to make then stuck on some gems, I have used craftwork cards sentiment and used a stampin up punch to make the frame for that

I have filled it with pink and blue crafting items for a lucky crafting friends birthday

supposed to be a secret!!

ok another pinterest idea from me!

every year at our crafty bunch Christmas party
we don't have a secret santa, we all pick names out of a hat and make a place card for one of the other members who go to Sues club.

I have tried to hide the name on here but it wont seem to work, so hopefully shes not a blogger!

I used paper from Kanban, and cut the flower and holly on SCAL
added a little bit of ribbon

inside are some chocolate coins in a little plastic bag
(unfortunately I had to eat the other chocolate coins to make sure they weren't poisonous before I gave the little package!

you can find a link to the template here, (you will need to scroll down to find it but her blog is well worth a browse anyway)
although again, me being me, had to alter it slightly for what I wanted!

off to see what else I can do with my last annual leave day!!

thanks for looking

Gift Bow

recently within our WI we asked people to donate old books that we could give to guide dogs for the blind (not so the dogs could read them, so they could sell them)

someone donated an old family law book that was tattered and out of date by about 500 million years, so thought I might use it to recycle

now instead of crafting, I have become addicted lately to pinterest, and dreaming of all the fabulous ideas I could make!

I saw inspiration here and thought I would give it a go
however, I had to change the dimentions slightly to fit on the page, when they have advised to use 11 inches, I changed to 10, therefore had to make all pieces 1 inch shorter, in future though I will keep the middle piece at 3 1/2 inches as mine is too small

as I am also a lazy crafter, I have been playing with SCAL and made a cut file of all the pieces, so I dont have to stand over the guillotine cutting out the pieces

I most definately will be making more!

I have used some more pages making things - I will eventually get around to posting photos

thanks for dropping in

message board

my first attempt at making a message board, have been and purchased some more material now to have a serious go at these, is a blank canvas frame, covered with 2 layers of wadding, then covered with material and ribbon for the criss cross, buttons sewn on and then another thinner board covered with material on back and then all stapled together, very simple, but am concerned now that I wont make my money back on these now I have bought dearer material!! can see me just using as gifts for friends and family!

a little bit tropical

Had to  make a birthday card for someone who likes parrots!

found this a bit difficult to think of what to do really, so went to trusty old greeting card factory for an image
teamed this up with paper from bo bunny, really hurt to cut into this as its double sided and I just love the colour and texture of it - but am trying to get out of my addiction for beautiful paper!

decided on an easel as I havent done one of these for ages and just added some ribbon from stash and green card and buttons, used some red thread on buttons just because I thought it was a bit too 'green'

challenges
Lexi's - happy birthday
pink elephant - masculine
Tuesday throwdown - critters (are birds classed as critters????)

recycling old stuff!!

I needed some clipboards for our WI but didnt want to spend a lot of money on them, went out shopping today to get some but couldnt see anything suitable, then in the 99p shop saw 5 of these clips for 99p (who would have guessed it in the 99p shop)
so decided to make my own

my auntie works in a factory and often brings me home old card that would normally be thrown away, but knows I like to mess around with card and papers

I cut 8 pieces of the card 11x9 ins and glued them together, then I covered back and front with papers I brought home from America last year (not sure of the make, they were in a pack of 50 for about $7) I then did a bit of paper piecing by cutting the lovely ladies off the forever young cartridge on my cricut, the clothes are from bits of scrap in my scrap box
then I lastly added a clip and actually am quite pleased with how they turned out!
would have liked to do a bit more embellishing but then I wouldnt be able to use them properly as would be a problem when writing on the paper

challenges
love to create - recycling
allsorts challenge - paper piecing

heart to heart

I have been browsing the do crafts mag, and saw some beautiful hanging hearts (which I collect actually) so thought I would give it a go, picked out some double sided 12x12 card which I wasnt too upset about using (think it was out of one of those bargain packs) while I did a sample, think its from my minds eye (could be wrong sorry) anyway, stuck to the letter of the tutorial, however, the card was a bit thick as it tells you to fold each piece in half before curling, also wasnt as smooth as it could have been because of the fold (when I looked closely neither was it in mag)

so then I tried again, with paper that was in a bulk buy, and halved the size of the strips, but still used double sided so it didnt matter, it was much better this time, easier to bend and looks better overall!  I think if not using double sided card/paper folding would be necessary but I think double sided, thinner strips are the way forward!!
I will be making some more soon!

thanks for looking xx

my aim is to use some of them!

The card is just a plain white 5x5in card, I used cuttlebug and swiss dots to emboss just over half the page (wanted to do less of it but their wasnt room in the machine for that!  The paper and image is from do crafts tulip range, I cut a circle on the cricut in green and some flowers on there too, then layered, the green pearls I havent a clue where they came from, found them lurking!!
